I'd been told that Tallinn was beautiful but it's hard to get the measure of a place when you touch down at midnight and there's little to see but empty streets and worn-out shop fronts. 'Why you come here?' snorts the taxi driver. 'Tallinn not good.'

Tallinn Ice skating in the Old Town, next to Niguliste church. Come and try it out for yourself! Afterwards treat yourself to a glass of hot mulled wine in Town Hall Square, since it's -15 degrees Celsius outside right now - true winter :).

Tallinn Rotermann Quarter - a nice new shopping centre in the heart of Tallinn. Built in a former industrial area, it looks quite stunning - and indeed different.

Tallinn Another photo of the Christmas Market in Town Hall square. Photo is unfortunately from last year, but we hope we'll soon have some photos of this year's market as well. Or if you have any yourself, we would love to have you post them here! :). Photo by Mari Kadanik.

Tallinn St. Catherine passage in Tallinn Old Town in winter. It is so awesome just to stroll around quiet Old Town streets and discover places like this. Photo by Toomas Volmer.
