The Mole : Krtek

Krtek...
Ones in a while you remember stuff. Good stuff! Old memories that makes you smile! One day a little fellow turned up in my memories and brightened my day: The Mole!

The Mole was the main character in a series of short animated stories that was shown on TV when I was a kid. He came from Czechoslovakia and it turns out his name was Krtek in Czec. I wonder how it is pronounced?!

The films/stories were produced in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and were very popular in several places in Europe. They were pretty short and as I remember they put you in a curtain mood - not the kind of films that had a long and complicated story to tell.
Here’s a short summary of a typical story with The Mole:

The Mole and the Phone: The Mole finds a ringing phone in the grass. There are a lot of noises coming out of it and suddenly a baby’s cry… The Mole comforts the phone.

Maybe he’s not the brightest little guy, Krtek, but he’s definitely sweet :o)
