There are so many things about this show that I think are just so great, but above all I think I'd have to say that I love the whole concept of the show. Using notable periods from Britain's history as a setting for a sitcom is simply brilliant, and to my knowledge is also unique. I don't know of any other show that has used such a storytelling device in the same way--although I know just because I personally don't know of any other such shows doesn't mean there aren't any. Anyway, the idea of the show is absolutely genius; I wish someone here in the States would come up with something similar using U.S. history--although these days they probably couldn't even if they wanted to, since so much of U.S. history is now considered "politically incorrect" by certain groups. Still, it would be great if someone in Hollywood could be creative enough to come up with an American-history version of Blackadder and see if it could work here. |
