I recommend Bar-B-Barn on the 7 mile strip closer to the square for a more traditional, smaller hotel right on the beach.
If you are more rustic, you should check out Lazy Dayz - separate cottages, very hippie feel to it, great prices, right on the beach and in the middle of the 7 mile stretch so easy to get to the nigh...t events.
The ultimate all-inclusive experience would be Grand Lido down at the end of the beach.
