Basket Case is a story about big plans in a little town. National Basketball Association removes all foreign player limit...ations. The teams may now hire as many players outside of Finland as they wish.

A small coastal town in Finland called Porvoo has a team called Tarmo (eng. Courage). After finishing on the bottom of the standings in the previous season, they take a leap of faith and double their old budget for the new season.

The club hires a rookie manager to collect the money and a succesful coach to spend it. Their mutual history unknown to the club places the duo in a collision course right from the start.
The coach is promised a huge budget for hiring players, as the rules now allow to collect the players even from Cameroon. It doesn't take long before the team makes a new national record in the number of foreign players.

The cashflow of the team doesn't keep up with the spending: the first new players are still without a place to stay and food when new ones are already lining up in the airport.

The manager tries desperately to make sponsorship deals with local companies, while the players find themselves in a bunch of absurd encounters with the locals.

Basket Case reveals what's behind the scenes in the sport business and goes under the skin of Finnish society. It's a tragicomic story of what happens when sense of reality is wiped aside by flashy ideas.
